Welcome to The University of Durham's King's Network. Our networks aim to connect King's alumni in their place of study, to provide opportunities to get together for informal social events.
Hello, my name is Rory and I'm currently a first year student studying Geography and International Relations at Colingwood College, Durham. I left King's in 2024, having joined the school in 2013, and studied Geography, Economics, Politics and Maths at A level. At Durham, alongside my degree, I am enjoying playing football and Gaelic football for the university and have joined the Durham Union and Durham Geographical Society. I am happy to help with any questions you may have about Durham.

Hi, my name is Mya and I am currently a second year History student at Josephine Butler College, Durham University. I graduated from King's in 2023 with A-Levels in History, Psychology, Mathematics and Religious Studies. During my two years at KCS, I was Captain of Alverstone, played for both the first hockey and netball teams, and set up the Psychology publication, the Mind Games Magazine, amongst other extra and super curricular activities!
At university, I have maintained my busy lifestyle and high involvement. I am currently the Sports Officer for my college JCR, as well as the Sports Editor for the Holey Moley Magazine. However, come April, my term in this role will end, and I will assume the role of Treasurer of the JCR for 2025/26. I still adore sport, and was college mixed netball captain in my first year, and, this year, I am social secretary for Butler College Netball Club. On a university level, I am a member of Durham History Society, Durham Diplomatic Society, Durham University Women in Law and DU Non-Law into Law Society. Moreover, I have maintained my love for journalism and writing. I am a regular writer for Palatinate, having published articles in both the Comment and Satire sections, and am also an active contributor to Indigo, the Lifestyle magazine, writing for the Travel and Visual Arts columns. In addition, on an academic level, Durham has truly fostered and grown my scholarly capabilities. I recently published an article in a reputable academic journal on the nature of jewellery and pearls as markers for identity in the early modern court, which resulted in me becoming a research advisor to a PhD student at Monash University, Australia.
I absolutely love having a chat, so if you would like to discuss college life at Durham, History degrees at university or the wider, Durham, student-experience, do not hesitate to reach out! Or, if you would simply like to talk about life at King's, shaping life after, and the pathway to university and beyond, my inbox is always open. I hope to be a friendly face and ear you can always rely on!
