Nigel Edwards (King's staff 1990-2018) sadly died last year. In addition to his biology teaching and head of examination roles within school, he had also been assistant director of King's Kapella and a loyal bass member of the chamber choir for over twenty five years, singing with the choir in countless Evensongs and concerts, on all their recordings and international tours, including to Paris, Germany, Tuscany, Venice, Barcelona and Austria. Several generations of King's pupils will remember his outstanding voice, particularly in his find cantoring which proved a role model for successive pupils who took on the responsibility.
We will be remembering Nigel in a special Memorial Choral Evensong on Friday 2nd May at 6.30 pm in St Matthew's Church, Durham Road SW20 0DE, a church in which he sang countless times with the chamber choir. We are inviting alumni to attend the service and former chamber choir members to sing with the choir in some of the music for the service, including one of the canticles and the anthem.
There will be a rehearsal from 5.30 pm on the day with refreshments after the service. We do hope that a number of former pupils and staff members would like to join us that afternoon. If you are able to attend or sing, please complete the attached form by 17th March, for music copies and catering purposes.
