This interactive webinar for King's alumni at university or recently graduated will feature a panel of parents and other alumni working in leading organisations to share their experiences and insights on breaking into the professional world.

1. Sophie Shedel (OK 2017), Senior Consultant, Deloitte
Sophie is a management consultant in Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation Advisory business. Sophie joined the firm in September 2022 as part of the graduate programme, following studying a Bsc in Biology and an MRes in Quantitative Analysis for Global Health, both at Lancaster University.
During the graduate programme, Sophie supported a range of large-scale transformation programmes across Financial Services and also volunteered for outreach programmes at partnership academy schools. Since completing the graduate programme two years ago, Sophie continues to work in Financial Services, leading technology transformation projects for Banking & Capital Markets clients and was nominated by Deloitte for the Women in Banking & Finance Future Leader Award this year. Alongside this, Sophie manages the development of AI tools to enhance the firm’s proposition for Investment Management & Wealth clients.
2. Katy Blake (OK 2012), Legal Counsel Ismorphic Labs
3. Karen Luckly-Tang, Head of Future Talent, Legal and General
Karen is Head of Future Talent at Legal & General and a Board Director and Fellow of the Institute of Student Employers. A fluent French speaker, she has more than 25 years of experience in HR, talent management, and recruitment across professional services, investment banking, insurance, and media. Karen has led early careers and senior resourcing teams at Deloitte, Barclays Investment Bank, Citi, and Reuters, where she built strategic recruitment programmes and talent pipelines. Known for her passion for developing inclusive, forward-thinking cultures, she combines strategic business partnering with hands-on expertise in assessment, learning, and development.
4. Phillippa O'Connor, CPO, PWC
Phillippa has over 20 years of experience as a business consultant, working with boards and HR directors to solve a wide range of issues in the people space, including pay, diversity, equity and inclusion issues and broader HR transformation. She is also PwC UK’s Chief People Officer and a member of the Executive Committee. In this role she applies her years of experience supporting boards and HRDs on challenges in the people space to design and deliver all aspects of the UK firm’s people strategy. Phillippa has been a partner at PwC since 2014 and, prior to joining the board, she was the ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) Leader for Tax, Legal & Workforce in PwC UK. She has a career long specialism in executive compensation and works with large global companies and their remuneration committees to design, implement and communicate approaches that are effective in meeting strategic business goals which also reflect the expectations of their investors and wider stakeholders. She operates by building deep trusted relationships, not being afraid to share a point of view and balancing analytical rigour, market expertise and knowledge with the need to understand the points of view in the room and the strategic needs and intent of every stakeholder she works with.
