John Patrick Hassell (OK 1964) moved to Bristol in 1970 to join the aerodynamics department of the British Aircraft Corporation to work on Concorde. He later worked for the American aviation giant McDonnell Douglas, SAAB and Dowty Propellers. He served as a Liberal Democrat councillor for Hillfields ward and was heavily involved with Bristol Aero Collection Trust and the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trus
