Charles Julian Sanderson passed away in Sydney, Australia, on 26 June 2022.
Tony Sanderson (OK 1971) writes: "Charles was particularly successful as a sportsman at King’s, representing the school’s first teams in rugby, soccer and cricket, where he opened the batting and bowling. This led him to study Physical Education at Brighton Polytechnic, then graduated with a B.Ed. from Sussex University. He emigrated to Sydney, Australia, not long after graduating. He held a senior role working with those suffering from cerebral palsy in the Spastic Centre of New South Wales, the world’s first organisation of its type. On its closure in 2011, Charles ran a restaurant called Sweet Emma’s, featuring live jazz from local musicians. He then worked in marketing until shortly before his death.
He retained his keenness for helping the disadvantaged through his church work. A new housing unit is to be opened in Sydney in September or October 2023, which is going to be known as Charlie’s Place. This is a very fitting tribute to him."
