The Friends of King's Careers Fair provided a great opportunity for pupils in the upper fifth and lower sixth to explore possible options for their lives beyond King’s.
As well as showcasing a wide variety of professions from management and finance to charities and sustainability, the event encouraged pupils to consider the skills they might need for different career paths, to learn about the changing nature of the jobs market, and to reflect on the values that might inform their choice of career.
The Careers Panel and Q&A allowed pupils to hear from experts from five different sectors; representing the world of sport, Simon Cory-Wright; representing the charities sector, Mr Antony Berry; representing careers in the medical profession, Professor Prasanna Sooriakumaran; representing journalism and writing, Tasmina Perry; and representing the fields of computer science and digital, Professor Yi-Zhe Song. A host of other parent advisors, together representing fifteen different professions, were on-hand throughout the evening to advise pupils in 1:1 conversations.
Our thanks to all the parent and alumni volunteers who made the event such a success, and to the Friends for their excellent organisation, once again.
