Pupils and parents from King’s were invited to view a wonderful exhibition of Air France advertising campaign dating from 1934 to 1954. These were stunning and colourful art pieces that not only promoted a destination, they were a window to a changing world where shifting alliances, and emerging powers were at play. Through the story of French aviation, students learnt about arts, design and engineering, history, geography, cultures and languages.
“The feedback we received from teachers and students has been fantastic. I am sure that, when they created their first advertising poster in 1934, Air France did not think that over 90 years later they would still teach our children about history and international relations. It was a delight to see the enthusiasm and curiosity of our students from all age groups and to be able to share such a wonderful art display with parents too.”
Stéphanie Toussaint, Teacher of French and Spanish and organiser of the exhibition.
