Our Community, Our Impact: The Cricket Pavilion Refurbishment Project

For generations, the King’s Cricket Pavilion has been a much loved landmark at the heart of the school. Overlooking the 1st XV pitch and surrounding playing fields, it has witnessed years of memorable sporting moments and remains a focal point for pupils, families and visitors alike.

As part of the Friends of King’s 50th anniversary celebrations, work on the pavilion refurbishment project is now well underway. We are delighted to share that the commemorative paving slabs are currently being installed, creating a permanent showcase of the many members of the King’s community who have supported this special initiative - from current parents and pupils to alumni, staff and former families. A new canopy has also been erected, marking another significant step forward in our improvement of this iconic building. We hope this new area by the pavilion will be well used and enjoyed for many sporting fixtures to come, and will provide a welcoming and comfortable area for all the supporters to cheer on our teams!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, over £80,000 has already been raised through the paving slabs initiative. Along with other fundraising efforts organised by the Friends, we have achieved and exceeded our ambitious £150,000 target. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed. Their support is helping to preserve an important part of the King’s campus while celebrating 50 years of extraordinary volunteer commitment and service through the Friends of King’s.

We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses and to welcoming supporters back to King’s to see the completed refurbishment in the months ahead. The new outdoor area is just the first phase of refurbishment for the pavilion, and plans are already in place to enhance and improve the changing room facilities and upgrade the AV capabilities in the event space on the top floor.
