King's chess team faced another highly-challenging competition this week, as they travelled to Eton College to play in their chess tournament. Head of Chess, Mr Oliver Vella shared this account of the event:
"King’s College School, seeded third, showcased remarkable resilience at the Eton College-hosted chess tournament. Despite missing key players, they triumphed in the first two rounds with 6-0 victories. They narrowly edged out Dulwich College 3.5-2.5 in round three and secured a 4-2 win against Eltham College in round four. However, they fell short in the final round, losing 4-2 to top-seeded Magdalen College School, Oxford. King’s commendable performance highlighted their determination and skill. We extend our gratitude to Eton College for their generous hospitality in hosting this wonderful event."
Chess is one of over 150 co-curricular activities currently offered at King's. The extensive programme of pursuits beyond the classroom is designed to help pupils flourish in all areas of life, enabling them to grow and develop as whole people: nurturing them in mind, spirit and heart.
