Obituaries

Alexander (Alec) Honey was a pupil in the Senior School at King's from 1956 to 1961. He was later a Major of the Parachute Regiment. Alec was also a keen sailor, becoming a member of the Association of Cape Horners.

In 1973 he took part in the Whitbread Round the World race in 1973 as the No. 1 Watch Officer in Chay Blyth's crew of Great Britain II. In 1992 has was selected by Chay Blyth once more to skipper one of the yachts for Blyth's British Steel Challenger, a 28000-mile adventure to commemorate the 21st anniversary of Blyth's solo trip around the world.

Alec died on 12 January 2024.
