We were delighted to welcome Professor Sara Hobolt from the London School of Economics to deliver a talk on The Rise of Populism in Europe: Causes & Consequences.
In this talk, Professor Hobolt explores the economic, cultural and political factors driving populism and its impact on European democracies.
Professor Sara Hobolt is a political scientist specialising in European politics and electoral behaviour. She holds the Sutherland Chair in European Institutions at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research focuses on elections, referendums, public opinion, and the European Union. She has published extensively and received numerous awards, including being elected a Fellow of the British Academy. Her most recent book (co-authored with Catherine De Vries), Political Entrepreneurs. The Rise of Challenger Parties in Europe, was published by Princeton University Press in 2020.
